Flooding is the temporary covering or submerging of normally dry land with a large amount of water. It is the most common natural disaster in the United States.

• Result from rain, snow, coastal storms, storm surges, and overflows of dams and other water systems.
• Develop slowly or quickly – Flash floods can come with no warning.
• Cause outages, disrupt transportation, damage buildings, and create landslides.

First, check with your insurance to make sure that your home or business is covered. Second, have your sump pump checked yearly and make sure your gutters are clean and attached properly.
